"We started this event last year and are excited to bring it back for a second year," Blickhan said.
The theme of this year's event is "Luck Be a Lady Tonight" and will feature Las Vegas-style gaming tables and professional dealers.
"This is a great event for a great cause," said Brandy Blickhan, a Fur Ball committee member.
The Fur Ball generates funds for general operational expenses for the Humane Society. The inaugural event raised $23,000 and is now considered the Humane Society's second-largest fundraiser behind the Mutt Strut each October. The nonprofit Humane Society has a $520,000 annual budget.
"Those two fundraisers obviously help out a lot," Westerhoff said.
Fur Ball tickets are $75 a person or $650 for a table of 10, which includes hors d'oeuvres, two tickets for cocktails, and $100 in gambling chips.
Blickhan said a variety of prizes will be awarded at the event, including Cubs tickets that include an overnight stay in Chicago and a Luke Guthrie-autographed University of Illinois golf bag and hat.
