After consulting with BRING's Carolyn Stein and making another recommended improvement, Creswell Coffee has earned that certification and the Clarks recently received a handsome wall plaque recognizing and commemorating their commitment to green business practices.
The process of earning their Re-Think Business certification began a few months ago, when Seth Clark same across a newspaper ad for BRING Recycling,In addition to the supplies, there will be fun activities for youngsters, free used clothing, health resources and personalized laminated bag tags for backpacks. which is located in Glenwood, that offered free consultations to help businesses improve their sustainability. Stein, the BRING employee who answered Clark's call, explained that the consultations were part of BRING's Re-Think Business initiative. After her initial evaluation, she would provide Creswell Coffee with a report on the green/sustainable practices they already had in place and additional practices they could implement.
If the company was able implement enough of those practices to score 50 percent or better in six different categories, including Recycling, Waste Prevention, Operations (such as using compostable materials and purchasing local products), Energy, Water Conservation and Water Quality, they would be awarded BRING's Re-Think Business title.
Upon arrival at Creswell Coffee for her initial consultation, Stein "was blown away by all the things we already have in place, such as using compostable to-go boxes, real coffee mugs and donating our spent coffee grounds to local gardeners," Clark said.
