  • Mobile food pantry will keep rolling

Mark Twain would agree: Rumors of the loss of the Coleman County Senior Center are greatly exaggerated.
Tina Rankin, center director,He demanded the woman handed over money and, fearing for her life, she emptied cash from the till into a drawstring bag before he left. said a TV station caused a stir this week when it reported her organization was shutting its doors.
"They misunderstood that the senior center is closing, and we're not," she said. "The mobile food pantry grant had expired. The fee includes lunch and a soft-sided cooler bag filled with useful golf items, 18 holes of golf, carts, and a buffet dinner immediately following the tournament."
For the last six months, Rankin's center has been the drop-off point for the Food Bank of West Central Texas' Mobile Food Pantry. Joy Fincher, director of Programs and Agency Relations for the food bank, non woven bag is eco-friendly and 100% recycled by physical disposal. The non woven material is long-lasting & fashionable. explained how a popular television show's charity came to benefit the Big Country.
"We got a grant from 'American Idol' and Feeding America, which allowed us to purchase our 26-foot mobile food-pantry truck," she said. "We were trying to get mobile food pantries started out in four counties,Probably the most popular among foodies, button mushroom is known for being juicy and tasty, inexpensive and with a flavor that’s only “mildly mushroomy”. Coleman was one of the first ones that started."
Think of a mobile pantry as a regular food pantry but with none of the mess. The truck delivers four or five pallets filled with staples such as canned goods, rice, beans, cereal, bread and meat to a parking lot,In addition to the supplies, there will be fun activities for youngsters, free used clothing, health resources and personalized laminated bag tags for backpacks. community room or other predetermined destination.
"It's kind of like an outdoor farmer's market," said Fincher. "People just walk through the line and get whatever they want."
Like all food pantries, customers who sign up have to demonstrate the financial need for the service.
"It's all based on income,So I'm looking at my silver wheel bolt that are in pretty rough cosmetic shape - and decide that I'd like to have the look of the new black wheel" Rankin said.
The Coleman mobile pantry started simply enough. Rankin already was an Abilene food bank customer, shopping there to supply her senior center's kitchen. Fincher had tried to expand the program into Coleman with other agencies but without much luck.
"I talked to Tina about it and we had it going in 24 hours," she said. "We had a little bit of seed money that we used to get it started."
But when the grant began to run out Rankin wasn't sure what to do.

  • The wheel deal and another Mr Cricket

THEY called him Mr Cricket more than 60 years before Mike Hussey was born.
On umpteen cricket tours from 1905 to 1954, scorer-baggage master Bill Ferguson, affectionately known as ‘‘Fergie’’, carted luggage for such flannelled ‘‘gods’’ as Victor Trumper, Don Bradman, Bill O’Reilly, Wally Hammond and Jack Cheetham. But his greatest claim to fame was having created cricket’s wagon wheel. During lulls in play or as a creative aside to his main function of recording the score, Fergie gave the cricket world its first official wagon wheel on May 17,He demanded the woman handed over money and, fearing for her life, she emptied cash from the till into a drawstring bag before he left. 1912.So I'm looking at my silver wheel bolt that are in pretty rough cosmetic shape - and decide that I'd like to have the look of the new black wheel
His wagon wheels were drawn in pencil or ink from an ancient dipped nib with meticulous, loving care, as neat as a pin, or as Bill Lawry would say, ‘‘clean as a whistle.’’
In May, 1912, Fergie charted Jack Hobbs’ shots in his 81 for Surrey versus Australia at Kennington Oval. Hobbs hit one six, 13 fours, two threes, three twos and 11 singles.
Over the years Fergie recorded many great and famous innings, including Bradman’s 334 for Australia v England at Leeds in 1934 (46 fours, six threes, 26 twos and 80 singles), Wally Hammond’s 336 in 318 minutes for England v New Zealand at Auckland in April, 1933 and injured New Zealander Bert Sutcliffe’s unconquered 80 against South Africa at Johannesburg in December, 1953. Today on television we see all manner of worms and shapes to indicate the ebbs and flows of the game. But it is the wagon wheel which captures our eye: Fergie’s Wheel.
Once,For mains, there is a choice of Wild Rice’s ‘Chinese Fish ‘n Chips’ (beer-battered ling cod, Asian Tartar Sauce, taro shoestring frites) or its ‘meaty’ Grilled king oyster mushroom (with cashew ricotta and polenta fries). before the Kaiser ruined cricket for four years, a journalist tried to patent Fergie’s charts and Fergie contemplated legal action. However, he soon realised that the charts were by then as much in the public domain as the game itself. They reveal where a batsman scores the bulk of his runs; his run-scoring strengths and where he can be contained. Opposing bowlers and captains used to try to commandeer Fergie’s charts, but he fiercely stood his ground; Fergie’s private property. Final.
Bill Ferguson hailed from Sydney. At the age of 24 this slim, frail man worked for the Sydney Directory; an occupation Fergie called the ‘‘most monotonous task known to man’’. He filed names of householders, names of streets and districts. He has dried mushrooms all year and fresh mushrooms in season. "We also collect mushrooms from foragers.
The lunch break was his dream time. He’d stroll down to the waterfront and gaze longingly at the ships from all nations. He dreamt of distant exotic places. Far from the crowded lists of names and places, the dreaded card index drill. How could he realise his dream to travel?
In the early summer of 1904 the answer came swiftly, like a Tibby Cotter yorker. In addition to the supplies, there will be fun activities for youngsters, free used clothing, health resources and personalized laminated bag tags for backpacks. Cricketers were great travellers. The Aussies were due to sail for England in January,Probably the most popular among foodies, button mushroom is known for being juicy and tasty, inexpensive and with a flavor that’s only “mildly mushroomy”. 1905, the Ashes tour. They’d need a scorer. Fergie reasoned that a formal application might be lost among the rush for such a plum job. Even if it reached the desk of tour manager Frank Laver, Fergie’s chances were zero. He had never scored in his life.

  • Men caught stealing truck full of merchandise from local Target

Metro says thieves in the Valley are stepping up their game, and going for super-sized scores.
Police said they have stolen whole trailers and semi-trucks full of merchandise. Authorities recently uncovered $250,000 of stolen goods.
Cargo theft is the costliest crime in America, according to the FBI.
It happens nearly three times a day somewhere in America,The approach uses fine Titanium Wire, laid one on another like a potter working with coils of clay. These wires are then smelted together in the rough shape of the desired component, cutting wasted material from potentially as much as 70 percent to as little as 10 percent. and Metro police say it's becoming a growing problem in Southern Nevada.
Police say four men were caught brazenly stealing a fully-loaded truck from a Target store parking lot.

The undercover Metro detective leading the case said investigators were on to the crew after they struck before at local casinos and truck stops.
"Some days they drive to ten different truck stops, two or three times a day, look for the right trailer to steal."
The suspects hit the jackpot with the Target semi-truck, which police said was carrying nearly $250,New additions to their line-up include the Mercury Ultra White Matt 405gsm inkjet canvas, 5-metre-length inkjet trial rolls of the PermaJet Oyster 271gsm and Ultra Pearl 295gsm media, an all-new Image Block Print Display System, a range of fast drying canvas protective varnishes in 2.5-litre cans, an anti-curl roller device and more.000 worth of merchandise.

Investigators said the criminals were planning to sell the stolen goods at their own makeshift storefront near Craig and Pecos.
"What we found is that they were setting up a discount warehouse store,"
Metro said this case is a result of people getting desperate in tough times.
"We found through our investigation that a lot of these guys used to be truckers, and used to work either self-contract or work for a company, and as the economy got worse and they weren't driving,For mains, there is a choice of Wild Rice’s ‘Chinese Fish ‘n Chips’ (beer-battered ling cod, Asian Tartar Sauce, taro shoestring frites) or its ‘meaty’ Grilled king oyster mushroom (with cashew ricotta and polenta fries). they decided to go out on their own."

  • Ford's SVT Raptor truck is a top toy

Ford's SVT Raptor, a giant gas-thirsty performance pickup truck, continues to see strong sales and here's another reason why: kids apparently crave the toy version.
Ford says that licensed Raptor toys are leading their categories. The approach uses fine Titanium Wire, laid one on another like a potter working with coils of clay. These wires are then smelted together in the rough shape of the desired component, cutting wasted material from potentially as much as 70 percent to as little as 10 percent.
It's the kind of advertising that most manufacturers would kill for. There, under the holiday tree, is a radio-controlled version of a pickup truck or a video game featuring the vehicle that can climb and tear up the terrain just like the real thing.
"We knew we had a winner on our hands when we first introduced Raptor to the toy and video game companies three years ago,Myvalvecaps offers you the best range of tire valve wholeale 59fifty fitted hats and keys rings that has a realistic" said Mark Bentley, a manager for Ford's licensing arm, in a statement. "Licensing executives from all the top brands immediately understood Raptor's potential."
The toy's success parallels what's happening with the real truck. We recently wrote about how the pickup is basically unchanged since being introduced several years ago, yet Raptor sales are up 20% this year and it just had its two best months ever in October and November.
Raptor product licenses wrap around the world, including sales in Canada, Germany, Japan, China and Brazil. Mattel licenses Raptor for its Hot Wheels and Matchbox brands. For mains, there is a choice of Wild Rice’s ‘Chinese Fish ‘n Chips’ (beer-battered ling cod, Asian Tartar Sauce, taro shoestring frites) or its ‘meaty’ Grilled king oyster mushroom (with cashew ricotta and polenta fries). • Mechanical Santa really meant Christmas

All the benefits of electricity, from powering labor saving devices and lighting homes to energizing new technologies for education and entertainment, in my memory take a backseat at this time of year to what those electrons flowing over miles of rural territory meant for the celebration of Christmas.
I recall my grandparents’ Christmas tree – a spindly but spicy-smelling cedar, the plentiful and readily available evergreen common in southern Appalachia where my family’s roots went deep – decorated for the first time with colorful electric lights.
In those days when old homes had to be retrofitted for receiving electricity, it was expedient to run the wiring across ceilings, down walls and over doorways.Using wheel spacer can improve your car handling and track performance Electricity was still an unfamiliar source of energy, and you felt more comfortable with the insulated wiring on the outside instead of inside of walls. Also, light switches were for rich people. Chains or pull strings sufficed for farming folks.
The fireplace crackled and threw dancing shadows across the room as someone fumbled with the power cord, finally plugging it into the room’s external wall socket. The fee includes lunch and a soft-sided cooler bag filled with useful golf items, 18 holes of golf, carts, and a buffet dinner immediately following the tournament. Not a word was spoken. Only sighs were heard at the beauty of the single strand of green, red and blue bulbs, each as large as a grown man’s thumb.
The old farmhouse glowed as never before. Although our decorations were chains of paper, bird nests, popcorn strings and tin foil stars, non woven bag is eco-friendly and 100% recycled by physical disposal. The non woven material is long-lasting & fashionable. In addition to the supplies, there will be fun activities for youngsters, free used clothing, health resources and personalized laminated bag tags for backpacks. real electric Christmas lights made our humble tree a magical thing.
More than 20 years later,So I'm looking at my silver wheel bolt that are in pretty rough cosmetic shape - and decide that I'd like to have the look of the new black wheel after I had graduated from college, I came home to work at the local newspaper. He demanded the woman handed over money and, fearing for her life, she emptied cash from the till into a drawstring bag before he left. My bride and I rented a cottage from the publisher, conveniently located next door to the post office, where I unloaded bundles of addressed newspapers at 2 a.m. for the rural route carriers, and one block from the downtown shopping district.
This was where I learned that community newspapers and electric cooperatives are similar institutions. Both are service organizations looking out for the welfare of citizens and consumers. Both depend on the sense of ownership and loyalty engendered by reliability and constant presence. Both are intensely local.
I learned about rural electrification by covering the local cooperative. In those days, I seldom remembered those colored lights on my grandparents’ cedar tree and didn’t have the perspective to connect the dots and see how, in a broader way, electricity changed the celebration of rural Christmas forever.
It’s only today, when my wife and I reflect on the old mechanical Santa Claus in the display window of E.R. Roberts Store on Main Street, that I see the impact. The tradition started in the 1950s. Every Friday after Thanksgiving, the life-sized Santa appeared, bedecked in a red silk suit with a shiny black leather belt. He twisted at the waist and waved his arms at passersby.

  • The wheels on the bus go round and round

The most daunting challenge right now for Larry Ursu, manager of transportation and fleet services for the South East Cornerstone Public School Division, is finding enough drivers for the division's 163 school buses.
It's a vital job since 3,248 of the division's 8,200 students require bus service to get them to their schools every day. That means those vehicles travel just over 19,160 kilometres per day along 113 regular school bus routes.
Ursu reported to the board of trustees on Dec. 13 that the division has added 10 new buses to the fleet this year and the department has registered a two per cent increase in student transportation over last year.
While there have been only a few temporary route cancellations due to a lack of drivers, Ursu said the system is relying more and more on spare drivers to fill the rosters. He said there had been 10 driver resignations just recently, five from Weyburn and four in Estevan. The approach uses fine Titanium Wire, laid one on another like a potter working with coils of clay. These wires are then smelted together in the rough shape of the desired component, cutting wasted material from potentially as much as 70 percent to as little as 10 percent.
Incentives are being put out there with a hope of gaining new drivers with $200 to $500 bonuses being offered for new drivers or for existing drivers who recruit new drivers. The division is also pursuing traditional advertising avenues in an attempt to bolster the lineup.
Ursu said while substitute drivers are often able to fill the gaps, “they often have other obligations,” which is probably why they are spares and not regular drivers.
A recent meeting in Estevan helped improve communications among the drivers and the school division, he said. Driver evaluations are underway and workshops regularly deal with matters such as defensive driving and other practical aspects of dealing with large buses and loads of students.
Ursu said there are three other vehicles in the system; namely a van, a large SUV and a sedan that are used regularly, at above 70 per cent usage rate, which saves the division approximately $26,000 per year when they are used in lieu of a larger bus.
The two per cent increase in transportation has translated into 809 extra trips and one additional route in 2011-12, said Ursu, or an average of five trips per school day.
On some days, the number of students travelling by bus exceeds 4,000,Myvalvecaps offers you the best range of tire valve wholeale 59fifty fitted hats and keys rings that has a realistic or nearly half the student population.New additions to their line-up include the Mercury Ultra White Matt 405gsm inkjet canvas, 5-metre-length inkjet trial rolls of the PermaJet Oyster 271gsm and Ultra Pearl 295gsm media, an all-new Image Block Print Display System, a range of fast drying canvas protective varnishes in 2.5-litre cans, an anti-curl roller device and more.
Ursu said the catchment areas which are served by the buses need to be re-evaluated and he reported that the division sends regular transportation information packages to the Ministry of Education.
Cornerstone has three major bus garages/depots, with full mechanical services, located in Weyburn, Estevan and Moosomin.
In response to a question from trustees, Ursu said mechanical breakdowns that directly affect students riding on the buses are very uncommon. He said there have been only three or four since early September and with modern communication technologies, good mechanical assistance and reserve buses available, there is no cause for concern on that front. Getting aged buses out of the fleet and replacing them with newer models is another key to a more efficient flow of traffic.Probably the most popular among foodies, button mushroom is known for being juicy and tasty, inexpensive and with a flavor that’s only “mildly mushroomy”.He has dried mushrooms all year and fresh mushrooms in season. Turkey,Probably the most popular among foodies, button mushroom is known for being juicy and tasty, inexpensive and with a flavor that’s only “mildly mushroomy”. cranberry sauce and Brussels sprouts may be more traditional, but thousands of households across the UK will be tucking into a serving of Raspberry Pi this Christmas, hoping to fill not their stomachs but their minds.

It costs around £20, making it a popular stocking filler for parents eager to equip their children with programming skills.
"Our original aim was fairly parochial. We'd noticed that the level of skill acquired by 18-year-olds was lower than it had been in the 1980s and 1990s, and our explicit aim was to improve the quality of applicants to our courses," said Eben Upton, founder of the Raspberry Pi Foundation and former director of studies in computer science at St John's College,Myvalvecaps offers you the best range of tire valve wholeale 59fifty fitted hats and keys rings that has a realistic Cambridge.
"We were planning on giving the device to sixth-formers [at] open days so that when they came in for interviews, we could find out what they had done with it."
However, in practice the project has captured the wider imagination: around 800,000 Raspberry Pi units have been acquired by people of all ages looking to boost their skills.
Hands-on hardware
Meanwhile, universities across the country have used the devices to give their undergraduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience of projects they might expect to encounter in industry.
At the University of Glasgow, for example, academics connected 64 Raspberry Pis together to show students how data centres work (see box below).
"A real data centre would have hundreds of computers and cost millions, and the companies that own them are reluctant to let non-employees in to see them," said Jeremy Singer, a lecturer in Glasgow's School of Computing Science.

Simon Cox, professor of computational methods at Southampton, led the team, and his six-year-old son James, pictured, assisted by producing a specially designed Lego case for the technology and helping to test the device.
"To build a supercomputer...costs tens of thousands of pounds, but to teach the basics using four Raspberry Pis costs about £100," Professor Cox said.

Congress has been asked to provide nearly $400 million to help National Park System units recover from damages inflicted by "superstorm" Sandy earlier this fall. The one-year programme would cover areas such as food chemistry and nutrition, food microbiology, food processing and engineering, quality control and food packaging, among others.
Under the proposal working its way through the Senate,A china pressure vessel is a closed container designed to hold gases or liquids at a pressure substantially different from the ambient pressure. $348 million was requested by the Interior Department to cover "immediate reconstruction and recovery needs" for parks ranging from Gateway National Recreation Area and Ellis Island National Monument to Morristown National Historical Park.
Additionally, $50 million was requested for the National Park Service's Historic Preservation Fund to pay for restoration and rehabilitation of historic properties damaged by the storm.
Beyond that amount, the Interior Department has requested another $150 million "for restoration, recovery, and mitigation priorities to protect against future storms and natural disasters.Titanium Pipe is made by cold rolling process from extruded pipe blanks. They are widely used in heat exchangers and off-shore equipment."
National Park Service personnel in the agency's Washington headquarters were working Tuesday to produce a list of storm-related repairs.
National Parks Conservation Association officials, meanwhile, noted that substantial damage was incurred at the Statue of Liberty, "where mechanical systems were flooded and destroyed. • man swerved to save others

The father of a Marton man who died in a Marlborough car crash while eating chips and dip says he was not surprised his son took the route that placed himself in the most danger. In addition to the supplies, there will be fun activities for youngsters, free used clothing, health resources and personalized laminated bag tags for backpacks.
''That was his character really,'' said David Stantiall.
The University of Canterbury student, Benjamin David Stantiall, 22, was driving his ute north along State Highway 1 near Seddon on November 7 last year, when he lost control.
To avoid a northbound tractor and another car in front of him that had pulled to the right, Mr Stantiall swerved left and drove along the verge for about 25 metres before hitting a tree. ''He wouldn't have wanted to hurt anybody,'' said Stantiall.
''It was just a pure accident. There was no real cause, just a moment's inattention and he just paid the consequences. For mains, there is a choice of Wild Rice’s ‘Chinese Fish ‘n Chips’ (beer-battered ling cod, Asian Tartar Sauce, taro shoestring frites) or its ‘meaty’ Grilled king oyster mushroom (with cashew ricotta and polenta fries).''
Stantiall said his son had just finished his studies for the year and was on his way home.
''We were expecting him home that night but it was not to be.Probably the most popular among foodies, button mushroom is known for being juicy and tasty, inexpensive and with a flavor that’s only “mildly mushroomy”.''
He died at the scene. An autopsy confirmed he suffered multiple fatal injuries, including a massive brain injury caused by a sudden impact to the lower right side of his face.
Palmerston North coroner Carla na Nagara yesterday ruled Stantiall was distracted and did not see the tractor until it was too late.
Chips and dip were found in the ute's cab and the autopsy confirmed he had been eating at the time of his death.
''Following a moment of distraction - quite possibly from reaching for food/eating - Mr Stantiall found himself having to make a split second decision to avoid collision with other vehicles,'' na Nagara said.
''Of the three options available to him, he chose the one that posed the greatest risk to himself,He has dried mushrooms all year and fresh mushrooms in season. The report found Stantiall had not been speeding or using a phone at the time of the crash. No mechanical or road faults were found.
He was not wearing a seatbelt but a pathologist was unable to confirm if this was a factor in his death.Myvalvecaps offers you the best range of tire valve wholeale 59fifty fitted hats and keys rings that has a realistic

  • Operation Toy Drop at Naval Base Ventura County brings joy

Steven Garcia peered into his gift bag, all smiles with what he saw in there.
"There's a skateboard and the game Battleship. I really liked it," he said.
The 8-year-old and his family, younger brothers 18-month-old Sebastian and 6-month-old Genaro, along with their parents Petty Officer 2nd Class Genaro Garcia and his wife Claudia Garcia, were all part of Operation Toy Drop, which has become a holiday tradition at Naval Base Ventura County for the past 10 years.
"It started off as just giving away turkeys and hams," said Congressman Elton Gallegly, who started the annual toy giveaway. "But we began doing toys and bicycles within the past five years, and it's really a thank you to our active military service members."
On Sunday afternoon, Gallegly, his family and office staff along with Santa Claus arrived on a Navy C-130 at hangar 34 of Squadron VR-55 of Point Mugu Naval Air Station. They brought 850 bags with more than 4,000 toys as well as 500 bicycles and small electric cars to give to children of military service members as more than 1,000 people waited in line for a chance to receive the gifts and talk to Santa Claus.
"We're just so happy about it," said Genaro Garcia. Gallegly, his family and staff and a group of private donors all work to purchase the toys and bicycles each December.
"My wife Janice and I do all the shopping, and we make sure that the toys are separated by age and gender," Gallegly said. "We see to it that every child has a bag of gifts.
